Job summary

Affirm is reinventing credit and building a scalable, remote-friendly compute platform for batch workloads. The Batch Infra team owns the backend that powers ML, product, and financial engineering workloads, delivering reliable compute solutions in the cloud.

You will lead engineers, partner with product, design and analytics, and drive high-availability systems using Python or Kotlin on AWS and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience building and managing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Workflow Orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, Luigi, etc.
• Experience with scaling frameworks like Spark/Flink on Kubernetes for large datasets.
• Proven ability to define technical plans and deliver significant features or systems with elegant design.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly goals for the team and lead engineers through ambiguity to deliver results.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and decision-making.
• Identify and solve project, process, or technology issues proactively.
• Support operations and ensure availability of team artifacts and on-call duties.
• Set and improve code review and design standards across the team.
