Job summary

Affirm is building a scalable backend platform for batch compute across our remote-first organization. You will own delivery of quarterly goals for a team of engineers, drive reliable distributed systems, and collaborate with product, design and analytics to deliver impactful features.

You will work with Python or Kotlin, leverage AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes, and contribute to orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Flyte, and Temporal. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is expected.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with highly available distributed systems on AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience building/work with Workflow Orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, Luigi).

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and guide engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics in ideation and decision-making.
• Identify project, process, technology or business issues and lead solutions.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts; monitor metrics and on-call efforts.
• Set and improve code review and design standards, and advocate them beyond your team.
• Develop talent by giving feedback and leading by example.
