Affirm is seeking a backend leader for the Batch Infra team to own and deliver quarterly goals, guiding engineers to solve open-ended problems and ensuring reliable, scalable compute for ML, product, and finance workloads.

You will collaborate with product management, design and analytics, articulate constraints, and balance risks and trade-offs in delivery. Remote-first with competitive pay and equity.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Workflow Orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, Luigi.
• Experience scaling frameworks like Spark/Flink on Kubernetes for large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, guiding engineers through ambiguity to delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics in ideation and decision making.
• Proactively identify issues and lead in solving them.
• Monitor metrics and support on-call efforts to keep systems reliable.
