Job summary

ABB is seeking a VFD Support Specialist to provide expert technical assistance for Low Voltage Variable Frequency Drives within the Motion Drive Products division. The role is remote in the United States, reporting to the Technical Support Team Lead, with responsibilities spanning programming, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will engage with customers and field techs, document cases, and stay current with VFD technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years of electrical/technical experience OR associate's degree with 4 years of electrical/technical experience OR High School Diploma/GED with 6 years of electrical/technical experience.
• Knowledge of how Variable Frequency Drives work is REQUIRED.
• Firm understanding of electrical principles and ability to apply them to troubleshoot drives.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; must be computer-literate.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support via phone and email for Low Voltage VFD applications, including commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty evaluations.
• Assist customers with drive programming, parameter configuration, communication, and control system integration.
• Collaborate with engineering, field service, sales and product teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Coordinate with warranty team to initiate replacements and labor authorization for repairs.
• Maintain detailed documentation of support cases and solutions using Salesforce Case Management and other tools.
• Stay current with VFD technologies, software updates, and industry trends.
