Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex application cloud systems in a remote setting. The role emphasizes rapid outage resolution, documentation, and collaboration with customers and cross-functional teams.

Applicants should have 8+ years in production systems engineering, strong cloud experience (AWS/Azure), Linux/Windows expertise, and scripting/automation skills with CI/CD tooling.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, with production environment focus.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud, notably S3, Step Functions, Batch Jobs, and CloudWatch.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
• Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack.
• Knowledge of IaC tools such as CloudFormation.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and Git/GitHub Actions, CodeBuild/CodeDeploy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices in analyzing situations or data for quick answers.
• Detect, isolate, document, and resolve system outages during operations.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work with customers on day-to-day activities and issue resolution.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software problems and escalate as needed.
• Communicate status of problem resolutions to users and management.
• Maintain and install computing infrastructure and ensure security compliance.
• Implement continuous improvement methodologies for IT systems and processes.
