Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a high-performing team in delivering innovative IT applications for Medicaid technology. You will guide engineers across multiple projects, driving architecture, development, and integration with product and delivery managers.

This fully remote role includes 10% travel and a focus on scalable solutions, engineering recruiting, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 7+ years of professional experience.
• Technical Medicaid experience (3-5 years) required.
• Technical leadership experience required.
• Managing cross-functional teams preferred.
• Strong program management and scheduling skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and guidance to the software engineers within the IT Applications Development team in support of application design, software development, and software integration.
• Define the key priorities in pursuit of the vision and goals associated with the Software Engineering practice.
• Ensure Software Engineering staff adhere to best practices across the lifecycle.
• Lead and direct the work of employees including hiring, performance management, and promotion decisions.
• Provide leadership for completeness of application design, software engineering, and software integration.
• Improve the software lifecycle time by enhancing requirements quality and reducing design/development/integration time.
• Manage Software Engineering staff as a shared service across multiple projects.
• Ensure engineers have the tools, skills, and training needed.
• Manage geographically distributed staff to maximize utilization.
• Collaborate with delivery and product managers to support product delivery and enhancements.
• Drive engineering recruiting, attracting top talent and retaining a skilled team.
