Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a high-performing team delivering innovative IT applications in the Medicaid technology space. You will guide engineers across multiple projects, collaborating with delivery and product managers to ensure scalable, high-quality solutions.

This fully remote role includes 10% travel and a comprehensive benefits package. You will drive engineering excellence, recruit top talent, and mentor staff to continuously improve the software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 7+ years of experience.
• Technical Medicaid experience 3-5 years
• Proven leadership of cross-functional teams
• Experience with program management and SDLC

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to software engineers within the IT Applications Development team.
• Define the key priorities in pursuit of the vision and goals for Software Engineering.
• Ensure staff follow best practices around design, development, and integration throughout the SDLC.
• Leads and directs personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
• Provide leadership for completeness of design, software engineering, and integration.
• Improve software life cycle time by improving requirements quality and reducing design/development time.
• Manage Software Engineering staff as a shared service across multiple projects.
• Ensure engineers have the tools, skills, and training needed.
• Manage geographically distributed staff to maximize utilization.
• Collaborate with delivery and product managers to support product delivery and enhancements.
• Drive engineering recruiting and attract/retain top talent.
