Maximus is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a high-performing remote team delivering innovative IT applications for Medicaid space. You will guide engineers across multiple projects, collaborating with delivery and product managers to ensure scalable, high-quality solutions.

This role emphasizes strategic direction, staff leadership, and lifecycle improvements. Join a fully remote role with 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field.
• Technical Medicaid experience (3–5 years) required.
• Project management planning experience (1–3 years) required.
• Maintenance & Operation (M&O) experience preferred.
• Technical leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to the software engineering team within IT Applications Development.
• Define key priorities aligned with the vision and goals of Software Engineering practice.
• Ensure staff follow best practices across design, development, and integration lifecycle.
• Lead staffing decisions including hiring, performance management, and retention.
• Drive improvements in software lifecycle efficiency and requirements quality.
• Manage Software Engineering staff as a shared service across multiple projects.
• Ensure engineers have tools, skills, and training needed for project needs.
• Coordinate geographically distributed staff to maximize utilization.
• Collaborate with delivery and product managers to support product delivery.
