Maximus is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a high-performing team delivering innovative IT applications. You will guide engineers across multiple projects, shaping design, development, and integration to meet business needs.

This is a fully remote role with 10% travel. You will partner with delivery and product managers to drive quality, scalable solutions and strategic staffing, while building strong engineering practices and a culture of excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• Technical Medicaid experience is required.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and large engineering efforts.
• Maintenance and Operations experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to software engineers within the IT Applications Development team.
• Define the key priorities to achieve the vision and goals of Software Engineering.
• Ensure staff follow best practices across design, development, and integration lifecycle.
• Lead workforce actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
• Provide leadership for completeness of application design and software integration.
• Improve software life cycle time by improving requirements quality and design efficiency.
• Manage software staff as a shared service supporting multiple projects.
• Ensure engineers have tools, skills, and training to support project needs.
• Manage geographically distributed staff to maximize utilization.
• Collaborate with delivery and product managers to support delivery and enhancements.
• Drive engineering recruiting to attract and retain top talent.
