Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a high-performing team delivering IT applications in the Medicaid technology space. The role requires strategic direction, staff leadership, and a focus on improving software lifecycle efficiency across multiple projects, collaborating with delivery and product managers to ensure scalable solutions.

This fully remote position includes 10% travel and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience
• Project management planning experience
• Technical Medicaid experience
• Maintenance & Operations experience
• Technical leadership experience
• Continuing process improvement and cross-functional team management

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to the software engineers in IT Applications Development
• Define priorities aligned with the vision of Software Engineering practice
• Ensure staff follow best practices across lifecycle for design, development, and integration
• Lead and manage personnel actions including hiring and performance management
• Guide staff on complete application design, software engineering and integration
• Improve software lifecycle time by enhancing requirements quality and reducing design/development time
• Manage Software Engineering staff as a shared service across projects
• Ensure engineers have tools, skills, and training for project needs
• Oversee geographically distributed staff utilization and collaboration with delivery and product managers
• Drive engineering recruiting to attract and retain top talent
