Job summary

Maximus is hiring a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a high-performing team delivering innovative IT applications. You will guide software engineers across multiple projects, drive excellence in design, development, and integration, and collaborate with delivery and product managers to meet business needs.

This fully remote role requires strong leadership, lifecycle optimization, and a focus on the Medicaid technology space, with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 7+ years of experience.
• Technical Medicaid experience preferred.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to software engineers within IT Applications Development.
• Define priorities to align with Software Engineering goals.
• Ensure adherence to best practices in design, development, and integration.
• Lead and manage personnel actions including hiring and performance management.
• Provide leadership for complete design, development, and integration of applications.
• Improve software lifecycle efficiency by improving requirements quality and reducing design/development time.
• Manage Software Engineering staff as a shared service across multiple projects.
• Ensure teams have tools, skills, and training to meet project needs.
• Oversee distributed staff to maximize utilization and collaboration.
• Collaborate with delivery and product managers to support product delivery.
• Drive engineering recruiting to attract and retain top talent.
