Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a seasoned SCADA Design Lead to drive in-house design of monitoring and control systems for utility-scale PV, BESS, and wind projects. You will produce drawings in AutoCAD/Visio, set standards, review complex designs, and mentor engineers across our remote teams.

Responsibilities include leading cross-functional sessions, ensuring NERC compliance, and delivering reliable, scalable SCADA solutions from concept through FAT and handover to operations.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering preferred.
• 6-8 years of engineering experience in renewable energy including industrial or utility-scale PV solar, BESS or wind, with direct SCADA experience.
• Experience drafting engineering drawing sets for SCADA, networking, electrical, and/or substation designs.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts and architectures.
• Advanced knowledge of SCADA networks using Fiber Optics, Serial RS-232 / RS-485, and Ethernet TCP/IP.
• Advanced knowledge of industrial automation protocols including Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA and DA.
• Ability to read and develop diagrams and schematics including power system, networking, control, electrical, mechanical and civil layouts.
• Advanced knowledge of power plant operating procedures and control system interaction with governing bodies like RCEs, ISOs, TOs, and GOOs.
• Ability to work with sub-contractors and field personnel.
• Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and task management tools.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own in-house SCADA design for utility-scale renewable projects.
• Develop, review, and approve detailed design documentation including diagrams and BOMs.
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain design standards.
• Collaborate with SOLV OT teams to define hardware requirements and mitigate risks.
• Drive standardization and process improvements across projects to improve reliability.
