Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior SCADA Design Engineer to lead the in-house design of SCADA monitoring and control systems for utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS projects. You will work with AutoCAD, Visio, and other tools to produce comprehensive designs, definitions, and documentation while enforcing SOLV standards and supporting commissioning readiness.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with OT teams on hardware requirements, and drive process improvements to enhance reliability

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering preferred.
• 6–8 years of engineering experience in renewable energy including PV, BESS or Wind; direct SCADA experience.
• Direct experience drafting SCADA, networking, electrical and substation drawings.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking concepts.
• Strong knowledge of SCADA networks using fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet.
• Experience with Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA.
• Ability to read and develop power/system diagrams and schematics.
• Knowledge of power plant operating procedures and governance with regional entities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own in-house SCADA design for utility-scale renewable projects.
• Create designs using AutoCAD, Visio and other tools.
• Define and improve SCADA design standards and practices.
• Translate complex requirements into scalable system designs.
• Develop, review, and approve design documentation (diagrams, port maps, powering diagrams, BOMs).
• Perform senior-level review of SCADA drawings and issue redlines.
• Mentor junior/mid-level engineers and promote learning.
• Collaborate with OT teams to define hardware requirements; identify risks and propose solutions.
• Drive standardization to reduce effort and improve reliability.
• Prepare training materials and provide project status updates.
