Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a senior SCADA Design Lead to orchestrate the in-house design of SCADA monitoring and control systems for utility-scale PV, BESS, and wind projects. You will work with AutoCAD, Visio, and other tools to deliver scalable designs, standardize practices, and mentor engineers.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with OT teams, documentation, and ensuring project handoff and long-term reliability.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering preferred.
• 6-8 years of engineering experience in renewable energy (PV, BESS, Wind).
• Direct experience drafting SCADA, networking, electrical, and/or substation drawings.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking concepts.
• Advanced knowledge of SCADA networks using fiber optics, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet.
• Advanced knowledge of industrial automation protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA).
• Ability to work with sub-contractors and field personnel.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead in-house design of SCADA monitoring and control systems for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Develop comprehensive designs using AutoCAD, Visio, and other tools.
• Define and continuously improve SCADA design standards and best practices.
• Lead requirements gathering sessions and translate requirements into scalable system designs.
• Create detailed design documentation including diagrams and BOMs for SCADA racks and enclosures.
• Perform senior-level review of SCADA drawings and issue redlines.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence.
• Coordinate with SOLV OT to define hardware requirements and mitigate risks.
