Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across Notices, Corrections, and Amendments. This role focuses on complex state and federal tax notices and amended returns, serving as a technical lead while mentoring junior staff.

The position emphasizes building team capability, process improvement, and delivering accurate tax resolutions for customers across multiple states and jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with a focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types and ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) across states with complex requirements.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and local tax compliance.
• Lead/senior SME experience; coaching junior staff through complex resolution scenarios.
• Advanced Excel skills for reconciliation and audit trails.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, owning full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended returns across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors across pay periods and jurisdictions; drive corrections.
• Maintain high productivity in resolution of Corrections, Amendments, and Notices.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers, and propose solutions.
• Coach Senior Processors through structured sessions and SBIC feedback.
• Contribute to team QA, SOPs, and KB articles.
• Identify trends and communicate findings with recommended responses.
• Support cross-functional collaboration to resolve intertwined issues.
