Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead the resolution of complex payroll tax notices and amended returns across multiple states. You will own the full lifecycle from intake to closure, mentor junior staff, and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution, notice response, amended returns, and multi-state corrections.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notices; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across multiple states.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law including FICA, FUTA, FITW and deposit schedules.
• Multi-state payroll tax expertise including reciprocity, resident/nonresident taxation, and local compliance.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices in the team's queue, owning full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states end-to-end, including reconciliations and SSA reconciliation.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods or jurisdictions; drive complete correction workflow to resolution.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notice resolution requests with high accuracy.
• Coach and support Senior Payroll Tax Processors, sharing resolution processes to build team capability.
