Intuit seeks a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead the end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across Notices, Corrections, and Amendments. This role focuses on fixing payroll tax problems, filing amended returns, and mentoring junior staff while handling the most complex cases in the queue.

The position requires deep expertise in federal and multi-state payroll taxes, plus strong Excel skills and the ability to draft formal agency responses.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency response letters.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices in the queue, owning the full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X and state equivalents) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple pay periods or jurisdictions; trace discrepancies to originating payroll runs.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notice resolution requests with high accuracy.
• Monitor team WIP daily; identify aging cases and blockers; propose resolutions to management.
• Serve as primary real-time resource for Senior Payroll Tax Processors; coach and transfer knowledge to the team.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions quarterly; increase frequency for learning gaps.
• Contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and process meetings.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring errors and propose corrective actions.
• Identify trends and emerging compliance issues; communicate findings and drive resolutions.
• Support cross-functional collaboration with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.
