Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across notices, corrections and amendments. You will own complex cases, mentor junior staff, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced, virtual environment.

The role emphasizes expert-level payroll tax knowledge, cross-state compliance, and the ability to draft agency responses, while supporting a flexible, hourly schedule with overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across states.
• Experience drafting penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing and approving Form 941-X, W-2c and state returns.
• Deep knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW and related penalties/interest.
• Knowledge of multi-state taxation, SUI accounts, and local tax rules.
• Experience as a lead, SME, or coach for junior staff.
• Proficient in regulatory payroll tax payments and filings across US.
• Strong written communication; ability to create actionable SOPs/KBs.
• Educational background in accounting/finance/business; CPP/EA desirable.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex state and federal payroll tax notices, in multiple quarters and states.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple periods and jurisdictions; drive corrections.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving corrections, amendments, and notices.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers; drive resolutions with root-cause analysis.
• Act as real-time resource for senior processors and coach peers.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC model; adjust frequency as needed.
• Contribute to team meetings, QA sessions, and SOP/KB development.
• Identify trends and recommend resolutions to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.
