Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to support the Enterprise Revenue Cycle – Coding Production Operations. You will review complex inpatient charts and assign diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS within a fast-paced environment.

The role requires AHIMA or AAPC certification, an associate degree in Health Information Management, and at least 7 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Inpatient coding experience in acute care setting.
• Proficiency with ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign codes (ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS).
• Ensure correct code selection per Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to match DRGs and reconcile Medicare cases.
• Maintain ongoing education and adhere to ethical coding standards.
