Job summary

Fieldguide is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own critical infrastructure decisions and build reliable platforms in a remote-friendly setup. You’ll design scalable cloud infrastructure, implement IaC with Terraform, and lead initiatives that increase reliability and cost efficiency across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building complex cloud solutions on AWS.
• Experience provisioning and configuring cloud services with Terraform and AWS CLI/API.
• Proficiency with Datadog and CloudWatch for monitoring/logging.
• Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL data stores.
• Experience in security/regulatory environments (SOC2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
• Willingness to participate in on-call support and incident response.
• Mentoring and coaching engineers; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core platform infrastructure for scalable, reliable, and secure services.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Own major architectural decisions and long-term technical direction for Fieldguide’s infrastructure.
• Build reusable platforms, abstractions, and AI-enabled tooling for engineering teams.
• Monitor and improve reliability, performance, and cost with metrics, logging, and alerting (Datadog, CloudWatch).
• Ensure infrastructure security and compliance (identity, network, secrets, vulnerabilities).
• Lead incident response and postmortem processes; drive root-cause analyses.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of reliability and automation.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity for critical systems.
• Document infrastructure design and procedures for transparency.
