Job summary

Fieldguide seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own critical cloud infrastructure decisions, build platforms used by multiple teams, and push reliability and security across the stack. The role blends design, implementation, and leadership with a focus on scalable, compliant systems.

The team is remote-first and open to candidates across the US, with Bay Area colleagues in a hybrid setup. Strong emphasis on mentorship and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building complex cloud solutions on AWS.
• Proficient with Terraform and AWS CLI / API.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch).
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data systems.
• Experience in security/compliance environments (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA) is a plus.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core cloud platform infrastructure for scalable, reliable, and secure services.
• Develop and manage infrastructure as code to ensure consistent environments.
• Own major architectural decisions and long-term technical direction.
• Build reusable platforms and AI-enabled tooling to raise engineering efficiency.
• Monitor reliability, performance, and cost with metrics, logging, and alerts.
• Ensure security/compliance across identity, network, secrets, and vulnerabilities.
• Lead incident response and postmortems, driving long-term improvements.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with tech leads to improve reliability.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Document designs, decisions, and procedures for transparency.
