Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client in a fully remote role. The candidate must have an active IRS MBI and be capable of leading COBOL development efforts, DB2 interactions, and CICS-based workloads.

The role involves designing, coding, unit testing, and reviewing COBOL programs, updating documentation, and assisting with testing and defect remediation. Strong communication and client-facing abilities are essential for success.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant professional experience or equivalent combination.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) is required.
• At least four (4) years of experience with IBM COBOL programming language.
• Experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities.
• Experience with CICS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated success in client support and ability to interface with all levels of management.

• Lead the development of software solutions meeting business requirements; design, implement modules and unit test.
• Evaluate new coding techniques and tools, and apply them as appropriate.
• Consult on requirements elicitation and definition.
• Design software solutions per systems requirements and code accordingly.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, and integrate modules.
• Assist other developers with guidance and training.
• Support testing and remediation of defects; troubleshoot production logs and data.
• Investigate new solutions and techniques to improve coding standards.
• May provide coaching and training to other employees.
