Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support the IRS client in a remote capacity. The role requires active IRS MBI and at least five years of COBOL experience. You will lead development, design modules, and guide other developers while ensuring quality through testing and documentation.

Proficiency with DB2, CICS, JCL, and SQL is expected, along with strong communication skills for client engagement. This is a full-time remote position with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of COBOL development experience with IBM COBOL.
• Experience with DB2, CICS, JCL, and SQL.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) is required.
• Excellent communication and client-facing support skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of software solutions to meet business requirements; design and implement modules, perform unit testing, troubleshoot issues, and draft proposals.
• Evaluate new coding techniques, tools, and modules and implement where appropriate.
• Consult on requirements elicitation and definition; design software solutions per requirements.
• Code software solutions per designs and conduct code reviews; perform unit testing and integrate modules.
• Provide guidance and training to other developers; support testing and remediate defects.
• Assist users by troubleshooting production logs and data; investigate new tools and techniques to improve standards.
