Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client in a remote capacity. The role requires hands-on coding, system design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

You will update documentation, build and test COBOL modules, and ensure delivery aligns with tax processing requirements. A modern background in IBM COBOL, DB2, and CICS is essential, along with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of software solutions that meet business requirements, including design, unit testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Evaluate new coding techniques and tools and implement as appropriate.
• Code COBOL programs and perform code reviews and unit testing.
• Update documentation such as FSPs/PRPs and Visio diagrams as needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify program intent and improve system performance.
