Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client in a fully remote role.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of COBOL development, with hands-on IBM COBOL, DB2 and CICS experience, and excellent verbal and written communication.

You will lead development, perform unit testing, review code, update design and user documentation, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver stable tax processing solutions.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.
• At least 4 years of IBM COBOL programming experience.
• Experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities.
• Experience with CICS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; client support.

Responsabilidades

• Lead development of software that meets business requirements and design modules.
• Evaluate new coding techniques and tools and implement as appropriate.
• Code COBOL programs and conduct unit testing and reviews.
• Create and maintain documentation (FSPs/PRPs/Visio/diagrams).
• Coordinate with managers and engineers to clarify intent and suggest changes.
• Prepare workflow diagrams and translate into executable code.
• Mentor and train other team members when needed.
