Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our IRS client in a fully remote role. Candidates must have 5+ years of COBOL experience and an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI).

You will lead design and coding of COBOL modules, perform unit testing, reviews, and documentation updates (FSPs/PRPs), and mentor junior developers.

Proficiency with DB2, CICS, SQL, JCL and batch processing is preferred; strong communication and time-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5+ years of professional experience.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) is required.
• At least four years of experience with IBM COBOL.
• Experience with DB2, CICS, SQL, JCL, and batch processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of software solutions to meet requirements including design, unit testing, troubleshooting, and proposals.
• Code COBOL programs and perform code reviews, unit tests, and documentation updates.
• Mentor junior developers and support users through production analysis.
