Job summary

First Merchants Corporation is seeking an SBL Closing Specialist III to manage the closing process from approval to funding. You will coach staff, develop protocols, and ensure SBA compliance while handling complex loan files.

In this remote-capable role within our footprint, you will organize documents, order appraisals and title work, and review closing packages to support timely funding and accurate records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills.
• LaserPro experience.
• Excel proficiency and MS Office skills.
• Strong problem solving and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple loan submissions in parallel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the closing process from approval through funding and ensure files meet SBA and bank requirements.
• Coach and develop staff; act as lead trainer and protocol developer as needed.
• Coordinate with customers and third parties to gather necessary information.
• Review closing documentation and prepare closing checklists.
• Order appraisals, title work, tax transcripts and other third-party reports.
