Job summary

First Merchants Corporation is seeking an SBL Closing Specialist III to join our team. This role handles all aspects of SBA loan closings from approval through funding, maintaining compliant files and coaching staff.

The position can be remote within our footprint, offering opportunities to lead, train, and develop others while ensuring timely closings and accurate documentation across SBA and internal bank requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field
• 7+ years of related experience
• Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills
• LaserPro experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple loan submissions

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the closing process from approval through funding.
• Coach, mentor, and develop staff.
• Lead trainer and protocol developer as needed.
• Organize files and ensure SBA and internal bank compliance.
• Order appraisals, environmental reports, title work, and tax documents.
• Review closing documents such as Articles and Operating Agreements.
• Maintain accurate and complete files.
• Communicate with customers and third parties to gather information.
• Ensure timely closing with deadlines.
• Support other team members with pre-close file reviews.
