Job summary

First Merchants Corporation seeks an SBL Closing Specialist III to join our team. This role manages the closing process from approval through funding, ensuring SBA and bank requirements are met, while mentoring staff as needed.

The position can be remote within our footprint. You will examine files, coordinate appraisals and title work, prepare closing documents in LaserPro, and lead a team to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills.
• LaserPro experience.
• Flexibility and adaptability/collaboration skills.
• Excellent listening skills and coachability.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel.
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving and written/verbal communication.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple loan submissions/tasks in various stages simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Manage the closing process from loan approval through funding.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff; serve as lead trainer and protocol developer as needed.
• Ensure SBA and internal bank requirements are met and files are compliant.
• Organize files and communicate with customers and third parties to gather necessary information.
• Prepare closing checklists based on loan approval/type and review closing documents.
• Order appraisals, environmental reports, valuations and title work.
• Prepare loan closing documents in LaserPro and review closing statements.
