Job summary

First Merchants Corporation is seeking an SBL Closing Specialist III to handle the complete closing process from approval through funding. This role may be remote within our footprint and requires strong SBA knowledge with a focus on compliant, thorough documentation.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with third parties, and review closing documents while maintaining excellent customer service and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• > Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• "> 7+ years of related experience in loan closing or SBA processes.
• "> Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills.
• "> Experience with LaserPro and regulatory compliance.
• "> Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• > Manage the closing process from approval through funding while ensuring SBA and internal bank requirements are met.
• > Coach, mentor and develop staff; serve as lead trainer and protocol developer as needed.
• > Organize files and conduct due diligence including third-party reports and title work.
• > Review closing documents and prepare IRS forms and tax transcripts.
• > Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain high-level customer service.
