First Merchants Corporation is seeking an SBL Closing Specialist III to manage the closing process from loan approval through funding, while mentoring staff and developing protocols. The role can be remote within our operational footprint, with responsibilities spanning from initial file review to final closing documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills.
• Flexibility and collaboration skills.
• Excellent listening skills and coachability.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple loan submissions in various stages simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the closing process from approval through funding.
• Coach and mentor staff; develop department procedures and protocols.
• Coordinate with customers and third parties for appraisals, title work, and reports.
• Prepare closing documents and ensure SBA and bank compliance.
• Review loan packages to determine closing requirements and feedback to Underwriter.
• Maintain superior customer service and represent the Bank professionally.
