Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to resolve the most complex payroll tax issues across multi-state jurisdictions. You will own SOPs, provide formal coaching, and drive workforce capacity through structured routines.

The role emphasizes independent escalation handling, real-time expert guidance, and governance over standard operating procedures, including audits and risk-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching or training junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions including local taxes (e.g., PA, OH).
• Advanced writing skills to create and approve SOPs and tax documents.
• Ownership of SLAs and proactive resolution of red flags before impact.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with data-driven solution proposals.
• 5+ years handling highly sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations for high-volume service needs.
• Comfort with leveraging AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff and mentor others.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles and stand-ups as backup facilitator.
• Oversee WIP management, backlog reduction, and aging reports; advise staffing.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices including IRS and state audits.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks; communicate findings with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with governance and compliance focus.
