Job summary

Intuit's Payroll Tax Operations is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to drive critical initiatives and resolve the most complex escalations. You will govern SOPs, coach the team, and build workforce capacity in a fast-paced environment.

This hourly, non-exempt role offers overtime pay, flexible hours, and remote work with year-round scheduling to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex defect resolution.
• Experience as lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regs incl. local taxes.
• Advanced writing for SOPs and technical docs.
• Ownership of SLAs and proactive workflow resolution.
• Validation-first mindset with vetted solutions.
• 5+ years handling highly sensitive escalations.
• 4+ years in contact center / back-office operations.
• Comfort with AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time go-to technical expert for TP1–TP3.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC model.
• Lead or back up daily stand-ups and team huddles.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, aging reports; advise staffing.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across states.
• Approve complex amended Federal/State returns with audits.
• Identify compliance risks and advise stakeholders.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with risk options.
