Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to drive complex payroll tax work across multiple jurisdictions. You will own SOP creation, provide technical leadership, and coach the team to enhance capability while independently resolving high-stakes escalations.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years of payroll tax experience, SME leadership, and strong writing skills. The role emphasizes compliance, governance over SOPs, and seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years payroll tax experience focusing on complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Lead/Senior SME experience with coaching or training junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions; includes local municipal tax systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary go-to technical expert for TP1/TP2/TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly structured coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP management, backlog reduction, and aging reports; advise staffing needs.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and cross-jurisdictional penalties.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify systemic risks and communicate findings with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with focus on compliance and risk.
