Job summary

Intuit is hiring a Lead Tax Processor within Payroll Tax Operations to resolve the most complex payroll tax issues, approve amended returns, and govern SOPs. You will coach staff, manage escalations, and use AI tools to drive continuous improvement across high-volume workflows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead or SME with coaching junior staff through nuanced scenarios.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations including PFML/SDI.
• Advanced writing skills to create and review SOPs and technical docs.
• Ownership of SLAs by identifying red flags and resolving blockers.
• Validated solutions and alternatives presented to leadership.
• 5+ years handling high-sensitivity escalations with minimal guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations.
• Familiar with using AI tools to improve team workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles across operations.
• Coach team members quarterly using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support daily stand-ups as backup facilitator when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog reduction, and aging reports; suggest staffing changes.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across state and federal levels.
• Approve complex amended returns with audit trails and ledger reconciliation.
• Identify trends and risks; communicate with data-driven recommended responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings, upholding compliance and risk.
• Provide risk-informed alternatives under pressure.
