Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor to act as the SME for Payroll Tax Operations. The role focuses on resolving the most complex tax issues, governing SOPs/KBs, coaching the team, and driving structured performance routines. You will own escalations and ensure audit-ready processes across states.

Qualifications

• Experience resolving complex payroll tax defects and multi-state amendments.
• Proven track record as lead/senior SME with coaching/j mentoring junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations, including PFML and SDI.
• Advanced writing for SOPs and technical documents for a tax-processor audience.
• Strong ownership of SLAs, red flags, and workflow improvements.
• Experience handling high-sensitivity customer and peer escalations independently.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1–TP3 staff and coach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core ops.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions to close skill gaps using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or back up team huddles, QA, and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; recommend staffing adjustments to M1 manager.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices (IRS/state) with audit trails.
