Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator I to support scheduling and patient care coordination at our Northwest clinic. The role emphasizes accurate scheduling, communication with patients and care teams, and ensuring smooth transitions between care settings.

Ideal candidates will have strong customer service, detail orientation, and familiarity with scheduling software such as Epic. This is a full-time temporary position with hybrid work options in Seattle.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize concurrent responsibilities.
• Ability to communicate clearly in person, on the phone, and in writing.
• Proficient with MS Word, email, and Windows data entry.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems and meet patient needs.
• Ability to work in a high pressure, deadline-driven healthcare environment.
• Active listening and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments and outside consults; coordinate with departments for efficient flow.
• Work with patients, families, providers, and staff to identify needs and provide information.
• Update patient and caregiver contact information in the EHR.
• Communicate scheduling details with physicians, therapists, technologists, and nurses.
• Prioritize scheduling requests and manage emergencies as needed.
• Support department functions and assist with cross coverage or special projects.
• Assist with training of new staff and update provider templates.
• Triage calls from referring physicians, patients, and others seeking care.
• Collect and enter patient demographics and insurance information; assist with financial clearance.
• Coordinate Commercial Cell Therapy Portal Access (IMTX).
• Distribute work to Program Assistant and/or Patient Care Coordinator Assistant.
