Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator I to join a dynamic team in Seattle. This role will manage complex scheduling across departments, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of care for patients and families.

The position offers partial on-site work at the South Lake Union Campus with remote flexibility, 1.0 FTE, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with Epic or other scheduling software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all patient appointments related to treatment and outside consults; coordinates with departments for patient flow.
• Works with patients, families, providers, and staff to identify needs, answer questions, resolve problems, and provide information.
• Updates patient demographics in the EHR when needed.
• Communicates with providers and staff regarding scheduling needs and requests.
• Manages and prioritizes scheduling requests.
• Recognizes emergencies and initiates correct code procedures.
• Supports department function; may cross-cover or take on special projects.
• Assists with training of new staff and updates provider templates.
• Triages calls from referring physicians, patients, and families.
• Collects and enters patient demographic/insurance data into registration databases.
• Assists with financial clearance as needed.
• Coordinates Clinical Portal Access (IMTX).
• Distributes work to Program Assistant/Coordinator Assistant.
