Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator I to act as a professional liaison for patients and families, care providers and departments. The role emphasizes coordinating complex scheduling across multiple systems to ensure smooth transitions of care.

This 1.0 FTE position includes partial on-site and remote work, regular weekday hours, and opportunities to support training and program coordination while maintaining high standards of patient-centered service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
• Clear verbal and written communication.
• Proficient in MS Word, email, and data entry in a Windows environment.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems in a high-pressure health care setting.
• Active listening and relationship-building with appropriate boundaries.
• Attention to detail to ensure scheduling accuracy.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in patient care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with departments.
• Assist patients, families, providers, and staff; identify needs.
• Update patient contact and insurance information in the EHR.
• Communicate scheduling needs to providers and staff.
• Prioritize scheduling requests and manage emergencies.
• Support department functions and assist with training.
• Update templates for just-in-time needs.
• Triage calls from referrers and patients seeking care.
• Enter demographic data and assist with financial clearance.
• Coordinate portal access and distribute workload.
