Job summary

Biocide Systems is seeking a Part-Time Payroll Assistant to support monthly payroll processing, maintain employee records, process timesheets, and respond to payroll queries while ensuring confidentiality.

This role suits someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in payroll, finance, or HR administration. Remote with flexible 20–25 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in payroll, finance administration, HR administration, or a similar role.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling numerical information.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience using payroll software such as Sage Payroll, Xero, BrightPay, or similar systems.
• Understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory deductions.
• Payroll qualification or relevant accounting/administration training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and processing of monthly payroll.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including starters, leavers, salary changes, and personal details.
• Process timesheets, overtime, holiday records, sickness information, and payroll adjustments.
• Support the calculation of wages, deductions, tax, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
• Respond to employee payroll queries professionally and promptly.
• Liaise with HR and management teams regarding payroll information.
• Ensure payroll data is accurate and processed within required deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee financial and personal information.
• Assist with payroll reports, audits, and administrative tasks.
• Keep up to date with payroll procedures and relevant employment legislation.
