Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders for a fully remote, part-time role. You will review medical records, assign accurate diagnoses and procedure codes, and ensure proper sequencing and discharge disposition. The position requires 3+ years of hospital coding experience and AHIMA or AAPC credentials, with strong Excel skills.

The role emphasizes accuracy, productivity, and adherence to coding standards while enabling a flexible work schedule from home in the United States.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and remote work adaptability.
• 2+ years of coding experience in hospital or coding consulting.
• AHIMA credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC/CPC-H/COC/CRC).
• Experience with hospital coding specialties (Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions) and proficiency with Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation and clinical notes.
• Discharge disposition assignment and abstracting coded data for reporting.
• Communicate coding issues and opportunities to relevant teams for resolution.
• Maintain high accuracy rates and meet productivity standards.
