Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced PRN Coding Consultant Outpatient to review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate coding in a fully remote, part-time capacity.

Candidates should have 2+ years outpatient hospital coding, CCS or RHIA/RHIT or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CRC credentials, and experience with Epic and Clintegrity, plus strong communication to maintain high accuracy and productivity. Flexible scheduling and remote work available.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of outpatient coding in hospital or consulting roles.
• AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CRC).
• Proficiency in Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Proficiency in Emergency Department and E/M leveling coding.
• Strong written and verbal communication; adept at remote work and time management.
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software; HIPAA compliance assessed annually.
• Annual HIPAA exam and testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes accurately based on documentation.
• Assign discharge disposition and abstract coded data for reporting.
• Highlight documentation improvement opportunities for follow-up.
• Maintain 95% coding and 95% APC-accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits and attend Datavant Health meetings.
• Communicate with staff on clinical and reimbursement issues; demonstrate professionalism.
• Adhere to AHIMA/AC Contract ethics and perform duties with initiative.
