Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced PRN Outpatient Coder to join our remote team. You will review medical records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate coding with ED, I&I, and facility levels, while maintaining a high standard of compliance and productivity.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of outpatient coding experience in hospital or consulting roles.
• Proficiency with ED, I&I, and facility leveling coding.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and time management.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Assign the appropriate discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to relevant staff.
• Maintain high coding accuracy and APC assignment rates; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored training sessions.
• Demonstrate initiative and professional judgment in duties.
• Communicate with management and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement issues.
