Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced Outpatient Same-Day Surgery/Observation coder to join our remote team. You will review medical records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate APC coding with Epic and 3M compliance.

A CCS or AHIMA/RHIA/RHIT or CPC credentials are required, with 2+ years of hospital coding experience. The role offers a fully remote, flexible schedule, with opportunities for continuing education and professional development.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required (CCS or RHIA/RHIT or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CRC).
• 2+ years coding experience in hospital or coding consulting role.
• Experience with Same Day Surgery/Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Proficiency with Epic and 3M encoding/abstracting software.
• Strong written and verbal communication and good remote-work manners.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation and assign discharge dispositions.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding issues and improvement opportunities to relevant teams.
• Maintain high coding accuracy and APC assignment accuracy, meeting productivity standards.
