Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced Outpatient Same-Day Surgery/Observation coder for a fully remote role with a flexible schedule. A CCS certification is required, along with Epic and 3M proficiency.

Two+ years of hospital coding experience and strong attention to detail are essential. You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate APC sequencing, while maintaining coding accuracy and timely productivity.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hospital coding experience or coding consulting.
• AHIMA CCS or similar certification (RHIA/RHIT) or AAPC CPC credentials.
• Proficiency in SDS/OBS, Injections/Infusions, and E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication; adept at remote work.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes accurately based on documentation.
• Assign the appropriate discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues for follow-up.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and 95% APC accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials and attend sponsor meetings.
• Demonstrate initiative and professional judgment in job responsibilities.
• Communicate with co-workers, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Operate professionally, efficiently, and with flexibility.
• Comply with HIM Division Policies and privacy regulations.
