Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced Outpatient Same-Day Surgery/Observation coder to join our remote team in the United States. The role requires a CCS or equivalent credential and 2+ years of hospital coding experience, with Epic and 3M proficiency.

You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate APC sequencing. The position emphasizes high attention to detail, strong communication, and time management, with ongoing education to maintain credentials and adherence to

Qualifications

• 1) AHIMA or AAPC credentials required (CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• 2) 2+ years of coding experience in hospital or coding consulting.
• 3) Proficiency with Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions and related E/M work.

Responsibilities

• Review records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation.
• Determine discharge dispositions and abstract data for reporting.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Communicate coding issues to relevant staff for follow-up.
