Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years working in a healthcare revenue cycle environment with a concentration in insurance billing and collections.
• Advanced knowledge of the healthcare insurance environment including managed care, governmental and commercial carriers.
• Advanced awareness of the codes used when filing health insurance claims.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive inbound and make outbound calls regarding insurance matters and document all attempts in the collection system.
• Research and analyze accounts by gathering records and examining historical data to resolve payment obstacles.
• Verify insurance benefits via various sources to confirm eligibility.
• Review claims and ensure timely follow-up within productivity standards.
• Contact managed care, governmental and commercial carriers to secure payment.
• Identify payor trends and escalate issues to appropriate personnel.
• Answer inquiries from consumers and resolve concerns.
• Comply with HIPAA and all relevant regulations in collections.
• Maintain productivity and meet performance standards.
