Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS) for a 100% remote, full-time role. The candidate must have at least 5 years IP PCS coding experience and a CCS certificate, with 3+ years OP coding preferred. Start date is immediate and coding assessments/tests are required.

The coder will handle inpatient and outpatient accounts, using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS and various coding systems to ensure accurate DRG assignments and timely, compliant coding.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IP PCS coding experience required.
• CCS certificate is required.
• At least 3 years OP coding experience preferred.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS.
• Experience with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M and EPIC systems.

Responsibilities

• Examine the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequence diagnoses and procedures, maintaining high accuracy.
• Strive for optimal DRG assignments on each record.
• Maintain performance and quality while meeting productivity targets.
• Coordinate with staff or leadership when more information is needed for coding.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and share updates with colleagues.
• Complete assignments as directed by management and pursue continuing education.
• Collaborate with team to meet department and client goals.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
