Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. You will code inpatient and outpatient accounts using ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and related references with a focus on accuracy and DRG optimization.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of IP PCS experience, 3 years of OP coding preferred, and a CCS certificate. Regular day shifts, weekdays, and W2 employment are offered, with a required coding assessment as part of the process.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IP PCS coding experience.
• 3+ years OP coding experience preferred.
• CCS certificate is required.
• 100% remote work arrangement.
• Weekdays, full-time hours.

Responsibilities

• Examine complete medical records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures accurately, aiming for high accuracy.
• Strive for optimal DRG assignments with computer-assisted support.
• Maintain steady productivity and coding quality levels.
• Contact staff or leadership when additional information is needed for accurate coding.
• Review coding literature regularly and stay current with coding guidelines.
• Complete assignments as directed by management with reliability.
• Pursue continuing education and professional development.
• Collaborate with team to meet client goals and department targets.
• Perform related duties or special projects as assigned.
