Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS) for a 100% remote role. The position requires at least 5 years of IP PCS coding and a CCS certificate, with preference for 3 years of outpatient coding experience.

It is a W2 regular employment with weekdays, full-time hours. Start date is immediate, and an assessment test will be part of the process. Clinical coders will work with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT coding references to ensure accurate coding and DRG assignments,

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS Coding experience, required.
• At least 3 years OP, preferred.
• CCS certificate is required.
• Schedule: Weekdays, full-time hours.
• Remote: 100% remote.
• Start date: Immediately.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal & secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses & procedures, maintains 95% accuracy.
• Strives to obtain the optimal DRG assignments on each record coded with system assistance.
• Maintains productivity and quality at a consistent level.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed and contacts staff as needed.
• Keeps current on coding guidelines and shares updates with colleagues and supervisor.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Pursues continuing education and participates as a team member to meet goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
